3D Softwares for Product Development and Rendering
We employ various computer programs to perfect drafts and create mockups before production begins. This approach is cost-effective as it allows us to produce full digital samples without the need for muslin and other materials used in physical samples. Often, big brand's samples are destroyed to protect a brand's intellectual property and prevent the duplication of designs by counterfeit producers. Unfortunately, this practice is environmentally harmful and is becoming increasingly unacceptable in an industry moving towards sustainability.
After developing sketches and AI-generated flats that detail seam placement and design elements, L. MILLER transforms these 2D ideas into three-dimensional forms. Our drafting techniques vary: sometimes it is done exclusively in CLO 3D, and other times it starts with hand-drawn paper drafting. Regardless of the method, the designs are scanned and processed through CLO 3D to perfect the fit and ensure that line segments align precisely down to the millimeter.
The garment is digitally sewn and simulated on U.S. sized fit models within the program. The avatar can undergo various physical activities to test the stress and strain on the fabric, ensuring comfort while the wearer is in motion. Exporting files to Blender facilitates high-quality renderings and advanced analysis of pattern drape and proportion.
Finally, we grade our patterns to various standard sizes and prepare them with seam allowances, grainlines, and other markings for tech packs and production. We can also input custom client measurements and draft made-to-measure garments remotely, eliminating the need for in-person fittings.
